Grandma Gaylee celebrates 77

It was a great day. Caroline had big hugs for Grandma Ward.

And Grandma had big hugs for Lucybug!

Grandma is beaming....among all her grandkids- all eight of them!

Some days when we visit, it's tough. But today was a very good day. Grandma entered the room and immediately got emotional. She knew she was among family, and she knew she was loved. It was so good for her to see all of us, and equally good for all of us to spend time with the Grandma we love.

The kids helped blow out the candles.

Time for everyone to dig in and enjoy!

Lucy gets some "helmet free" time to get spoiled by Papa.

The kids had a blast being with each other.

And no one enjoyed watching the chaos and mayhem more than this lady right here.

Tony and Leah played tunes on the piano. We sang together, watched the kids dance, and even Grandma was steppin with the beat and clapping her hands.

She was most taken with Lucy.

And gave her a kiss to quiet her.

That's one good lookin' crew!

Happy Birthday, Mom. We love you! Here's to many more...just like today.

Last Splash of Summer?

95 degrees in September? Guess that means more water play!

Mmm...drinking the water is the best part.

Well, of course, this comes after the drinking part!

Sorry, just practicing that zoom/crop feature again.

Another zoom of a previous picture, but it pretty much sums up how we feel about playing outside in the water. Oh, my little girl is looking grown up in these pictures, and definitely in need of some hair product. Happy Labor Day weekend, everyone!

Mirror, Mirror

Looking at these pictures...they tell the story. No words needed. It all started when she found a mirror...first she checked out her teeth. And, well....this is the rest....

What have we created??????????

Photography Class

So I have this beautiful new camera.... I just didn't know how beautiful! I treated myself to a class recently and have been working on my technique. The top picture...flower on left in focus, flower in rear is blurry (intentional!)

Same shot, only I switched to focus to the rear flower, and the foreground is now blurry. When I showed these to Rick he said, How'd you do that? My little secret! :)

Fell in love with this shot of Caroline today...only wish I knew Photoshop so I could blur that toy-filled background. But I still love her expression and curls and the way the light hits her eyes.

Would be really cute if she wasn't spitting....but still a cute expression, and neat lighting.

I love the light hitting her profile. She looks so little here..reminds me of her baby poses.

In contrast to this big girl orneryness I see here!

Here's a zoom of the other shot...at least we lost the toys in the background.

And another zoom.

But looky what I can do!...Dark shot taken straight from camera.

I learned I can lighten and zoom.

And now that shot that I thought was too dark to be any good...Is precious!

Love.

And just for fun, we had to try the b&w effect.

I'm having just a little bit of fun, can you tell? And a package arrived this week from Georgia, (Thanks, Lin!) filled with tutus and feather boas! Oh, the photo sessions we have yet to come! I'm hoping Lucy will be sitting up soon to try that session out. For now, you will likely get more blog posts with my trial and errors..but I promise it will be a fun ride!

Cheers!

Drink up! It's Happy Hour at the Smith house!
